Strong Pitching Performance Pulls White Sox Past Guardians

The White Sox returned home on 5/9 to face the first place Cleveland Guardians. Erick Fedde took the mound for the White Sox facing off against Ben Lively. Fedde pitched 6 innings and struck out three.

Fedde came out strong with a 1, 2, 3 first inning aided by a nice catch by Gavin Sheets.

Tommy Pham got the bats going early for the White Sox with a leadoff double down the line. Pham scored the first run of the game on a double from Andrew Vaughn.

In the bottom of the second the White Sox continued to pile on the offense. Bryan Ramos doubled to start the inning, he scored on a single from Paul DeJong. Tommy Pham singled to drive in DeJong. The White Sox extend the lead to 3–0.

The Guardians put together a threat in the top of the 5th inning, but the White Sox got out of the jam with a double play and a ground out to Andrew Vaughn to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Tommy Pham made a diving catch on a line drive from Brayan Rocchio.

Jordan Leasure came into the game in the top of the 7th with the bases loaded and no one out. He struck out the first two batters and forced a ground out to end the inning.

José Ramírez and Josh Naylor hit solo home runs to put the Guardians on the board. 3–2 White Sox.

Michael Kopech came in the game to shut down the Guardians to secure the win for the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox beat the Guardians by a score of 3–2 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, IL.
