The Chicago White Sox celebrate Andrew Benintendi at home plate after his walk-off home run vs. Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays struck first in the top of the second inning when José Caballero hit an RBI single to center field, notching the first run of the night. In the top of the fourth inning, Richie Palacios extended the Rays lead with a 2-run home run. The Ray led 3–0.

The White Sox answered strongly in the bottom of the fourth inning. Eloy Jiménez hit a single to left field, followed by a single by Tommy Pham. With players on first and second, Andrew Benintendi launched a 3-run home run to tie the game up 3–3.

The Rays took the lead again in the top of the fifth inning on a solo home run from Austin Shenton, putting the Rays up 4–3.

The White Sox offense answered once again in the bottom of the fifth. Singles from Nicky Lopez and Tommy Pham put runners in scoring position. Gavin Sheets hit an RBI ground-rule double to bring in Lopez and tie the game, 4–4. Andrew Vaughn followed suite with a fielder’s choice RBI single, scoring Pham and giving the White Sox a 5–4 lead. Benintendi extended the lead with an RBI single, scoring Sheets, 6–4 White Sox lead.

Randy Arozarena of the Rays tied the game up on an RBI double to score two runs, 6–6.

The ballgame entered extra innings tied at 6–6. The Rays took the lead on a wild pitch in the top of the tenth.

Andrew Benintendi stepped to the plate and notched his second home run of the night to win the game for the White Sox, 8–7.

Deivi García earned the win, recording two strikeouts in the top of the tenth. White Sox pitching totaled nine strikeouts on the night.
